Time for another dram!
An incredible Single Barrel Welsh Whisky with a mesmerising aroma.

A bit about
I'll start with a disclaimer, as this whisky has been generously gifted to me by Penderyn Distillery, but I can assure you it has not influenced my review in any shape or form.
This whisky was selected in 2023 and bottled for Finland.
The one I'm reviewing is bottle no 174 of 272, Cask PT 351.
The ex-Tawny Port casks are from one of Portugal's leading wine producers - the Symington Family Estates.
This ex-tawny Port Single Cask is non-chill filtered, has 55.4% ABV and a superb natural colour.

Time to try it
Nose: Ripe plums, cherries and blackberries with dark chocolate, powerful in a very inviting way
Palate: Dark fruit covered in velvety dark chocolate, with peppery notes, and a bit of spice
Finish: Long with chocolate-covered cherries and a bit of spiciness.

Pros and Cons
After the first few sips, it has easily made its way to my top 3 favourite whiskies so far. It's gorgeous. It has so much flavour to offer, and such a good balance of sweet, spicy and fruity aromas. It's a superb whisky to enjoy, especially after a meal, with or instead of dessert.
Personally, I cannot fault it in any way, but if you are not a fan of fruitier, sweeter whiskies, and you perhaps prefer the peated ones, then this might not be the one for you.
Currently at £120, it is certainly pricier than their usual range, but it is a single cask whisky, and it certainly delivers for the price.

In Conclusion
You can still find this amazing whisky on their official website, here, but there are not many bottles left.
If you want to give any other Penderyn whiskies a try, you can find them either on their website or here.
