Time for another dram!
A Single Malt Welsh Whisky with a Sweet Red Wine Finish

A bit about
Made by Penderyn Distillery, the Copperopolis is No. 12 of Penderyn's Icons of Wales Series. It has 46% ABV, is non-chill-filtered and has a beautiful natural golden colour.
Penderyn has three distilleries, with the Swansea one being the last to open, in 2023, in the powerhouse of the old copperworks building.
The name 'Copperopolis' is related to Swansea's history, as from 1720 to 1924, 90% of the UK's copper and 50% of the world's copper was processed in the Swansea area.

Time to try it
Nose: Sweet, lightly floral, fruity, with dark forest fruit, plums and cherries, you can sense the wine influence from the beginning
Palate: More dark fruit and spice, all covered in a coat of honey sweetness (less sweet than the nose), with a very enjoyable mouthfeel
Finish: Dark chocolate, with a bit of oakiness, orange and cherries.

Pros and Cons
This has easily become my favourite from Penderyn. It has the right amount of sweetness, flavours, ABV, texture, pretty much everything for it to be a delicious whisky for sipping.
The only real downside I can think of so far is the availability, as it's not part of Penderyn's core range, so I'm not entirely sure how long it will be available for.
As a side note, I'm a big fan of the bottle's design -I think it's the best presentation for this whisky.

In Conclusion
Priced at £ 65 on most UK websites, I think the Peneryn Copperopolis is a beautiful whisky, ideal for sipping.
