Time for another dram!
A Chinese Single Malt Whiskey

A bit about
Distilled and bottled in China, the Goalong Vigorous has 40% ABV, it is non-chill-filtered, and it has a natural, light gold colour. It was matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and STR wine casks (STR meaning shaved, toasted and recharred).
The Goalong brand was founded in 2011 by Alan Gao, with the Goalong Distillery being established in 2017, next to the Liuyang River, at the foot of Dawei Mountain, in China's Hunan Province.

Time to try it!
Nose: Delicate but somewhat oily, with honey, fresh fruit (apples, pears and apricots) and delicate floral notes (mainly roses)
Palate: Velvety and delicate on the palate, with some burnt caramel, walnut, some spice and malt notes, and a hint of citrus
Finish: Lingering lime and lemon zest with some oak in the relatively short finish.

Pros and Cons
I'm always curious when it comes to world whiskies, and the Goalong Vigorous did not disappoint.
I do wonder how this would be at a higher ABV or if it was aged for slightly longer, but it's still a pleasant dram as it is.
The fruity and floral notes are pretty decently balanced with the citrus and malt/oak notes.
Overall, it makes for a nice sip on a warm day.

In Conclusion
Priced at around £ 55 on most UK websites, it's a light, floral and fruity dram to enjoy.
Any whisky can be enjoyed at any time, but for me, this one seems a bit more appropriate as a spring or summer whisky. Delicate layers, nothing too overpowering, and can be enjoyed neat, in a highball, or any summery cocktails.
