Time for another dram!
A Peated Single Malt Romanian Whisky

A bit about
With 46% ABV and a pale straw colour, Romania's first peated Single Malt was matured for 4 years in ex-bourbon casks. The barley used is smoked with Scottish Peat, having a phenol content of 35ppm.
Distilled, matured and bottled in Romania by Alexandrion Group, it is part of the Peated Collection, along with the 40% ABV and a few Cask Strength options.

Time to try it!
Nose: Sweet, with delicate peat, vanilla fudge and candy
Palate: Medium body, quite rich with a hint of fruitiness (peaches and apricots mainly) and spiciness, all enveloped by the slightly medicinal peat.
Finish: Long, with more (quite delicate) peat and the hint of spiciness (chillies) continuing, along with a bit of coconut towards the end

Pros and Cons
Overall, for me at least, it's a lovely dram to sip, not too peated, not too sweet, perfectly enjoyable neat, but also good over ice on a hot summer day.
Priced at around £60 on most UK websites, it's certainly an interesting dram to try, especially if you're curious about whisky made outside of Scotland.

As always, please drink responsibly.
