Time for another dram!
A Romanian Single Malt Whisky, part of Carpathian Single Malt's Spirit Cask Collection.

A bit about
The Carpathian Single Malt Rhum Cask Finish is part of the Carpathian Single Malt's Spirit Cask Collection, along with the Cognac Cask Finish.
Matured for three years in ex-bourbon American Oak Barrels, then transferred and matured for an extra 12 months in American Oak Rhum Agricole barrels which previously held XO Rhum.
It is non-chill-filtered, has 46% ABV, and a beautiful (natural) golden colour.

Time to try it
Nose: Complex, with pineapple, vanilla fudge, honey and bananas
Palate: Fruity (more tropical rather than orchard), sweet, slightly oily mouthfeel
Finish: Long, pleasant, very slightly dry towards the end

Pros and Cons
Overall, I find it slightly sweeter and more powerful on the nose than the Cognac Cask Finish and with a similar-ish palate and finish.
As with the Cognac Cask, it's lovely neat, but I prefer this one as well with either ice or a few drops of cold water added. I have not tried any cocktails with this one yet, but I can't see it go wrong in any way.
If peated/smoky whiskies are your favourite, then this one might not be for you as there is no peat present, but if you enjoy sipping on a fruity, sweet, but intense whisky, then this one might be the answer.

In Conclusion
Priced at around £60 on most UK websites, I think the Carpathian Single Malt Rhum Cask finish is another good Romanian whisky to sample.
