Time for another dram!
A Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky

A bit about
The Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select is triple distilled (which is not that common for bourbons), has 43.2% ABV and has the mash bill containing 18% rye, 72% corn and 10% malt.
When it comes to awards, so far it has won quite a few, including Gold in 2018 in the Bourbon - Premium category at the American Whiskey Masters (The Spirits Buiness), Silver in 2017 in the Bourbon - Super Premium category at the American Whiskey Masters (The Spirits Buiness) and Master in 2018 in the American Whiskey category at the Travel Retail Masters (The Spirits Business).

Time to try it!
Nose: Quite rich with dried fruit, toffee, spice, and orange, all nicely layered
Palate: Rich, on the sweet side, with the rye being quite noticeable with spice and fruit, bitter almond, a bit of winter spice and coffee beans and lime peel.
Finish: Long, oaky, with a lot of cereal and a hint of peach

Pros and Cons
For me, this bourbon is great in cocktails such as an old-fashioned, a Manhattan or a whiskey sour, and quite enjoyable neat or served over ice. It's one of the first bourbons I've ever tried, and it's still one of my go-tos whenever I'm making cocktails.
I like the bottle design - minimalist/ stylish, making it very easy to spot on any shelf.

Overall, I found this to be a good one to start with if you're new to the world of bourbon.
Priced at around £33 on most UK websites, it's certainly a good whiskey to have around the house, especially if you're a fan of bourbon-based cocktails.
