Time for another dram!
A Straight Bourbon Whiskey from Austin, Texas

A bit about
Made using a 42-foot column still and only using grains grown in Texas, Still Austin's mash bill contains 75% White corn, 25% Rye and 5% Malted Barley.
It has 49.2% and it was aged for a minimum of 2 years.
Describing itself as 'music in a bottle', it won Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2021.
The beautiful label for this bourbon was made by Marc Burckhardt, who was named the Texas State Artist in 2010.

Time to try it!
Nose: Sweet, you can smell the rye and corn, dried fruit, coconut and overripe bananas
Palate: Creamy, with treacle tart, sultanas, overripe fruit, and coconut, getting spicier towards the end
Finish: Medium, with vanilla Fudge and oak, gradually getting drier

Pros and Cons
For me, the Still Austin - The Musician is a warming, easy-to-sip bourbon whisky, very pleasant on the palate, with a lot of pleasant sweetness and fruitiness.
It has the right ABV to be great for sipping, without being too harsh, but it's also tasty over ice.
I've not yet tried any cocktails with it, but I can imagine it being great in most classic bourbon or whisky-based cocktails.
As much as it is enjoyable, I can't help but wonder how its flavour profile would change if it were aged for a further couple of years.

In conclusion
If you're new to the world of Bourbon Whisky, I think the Still Austin - The Musician is a good one to start with. It has a nice balance of flavours, it's pleasant on the palate, and complex enough to make you intrigued by the whiskey world.
Overall, if you're looking for an entry-level easy-drinking bourbon whiskey, then this might be what you need.
Not sure if you can find this one easily in the UK, but for any other bourbon, you can have a look here.

As always, please drink responsibly.
