Time for another dram!
A flavourful English Single Malt from White Peak Distillery

A bit about
Product of White Peak Distillery in Derbyshire's Peak District, the Wire Works Caduro has 46.8% ABV, is non-chill filtered, no-age-statement and has a natural colour.
It was matured in American and French Oak, both first-fill ex-bourbon and STR casks (shaved, toasted and re-charred).
It won gold in 2023 at the International Wine & Spirit Competition

Time to try it
Nose: Apple slice, lime peel, vanilla fudge and almonds
Palate: Malt, oak, plums and orange with hints of chocolate, peat and a subtle wave of fruitcake.
Finish: Sweet, creamy with a bit of peat and slight pepperyness

Pros and Cons
As with the Virgin Oak and the Bourbon Barrel, the peat in the Caduro is mainly noticeable on the palate and in the finish, with barely any of it present on the nose.
Out of the three I've tried so far, this one is certainly my favourite, being less grassy and zesty compared to the other two, and with a more velvety mouthfeel, sweeter and with more complex layers.

In Conclusion
Priced at around £60 on most UK websites, the Wire Works Caduro is a nice whisky to sample, with an interesting aroma profile, layering peat, fruitiness, and delicate sweetness.
It's nice to see what the up-and-coming distilleries outside of Scotland come up with, and this one is quite promising.
