Time for another dram!
A very lightly peated Single Malt English Whisky

A bit about
Product of White Peak Distillery in Derbyshire, the Wire Works Bourbon Barrel was matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels from Heaven Hill Distillery in Kentucky.
It was released in July 2024, it has 53.4% ABV and a light gold colour.
It is non-chill-filtered and a no-age-statement whisky.

Time to try it!
Nose: Lemon, white chocolate, fresh fruit
Palate: Lemon zest, ginger, honey and vanilla custard with a very delicate hint of peat and pepperiness towards the end
Finish: Medium with apples and citrus zest, oak, and with a small amount of peat still lingering

Pros and Cons
Quite pleasant and creamy on the palate, even with the higher ABV. The peat is barely noticeable on the nose but quite pleasant on the palate.
If you're looking for a genuinely peated whisky, this is not the one for you, but if you like a zesty, lightly fruity and peppery dram with the slightest hint of peat, then this might be what you're looking for.
I prefer this one with a drop or two of water rather than neat, but it's enjoyable either way.

In Conclusion
Although a highly interesting dram, this one, for me at least, is a tiny bit too citrusy and not as peated as I would have liked, for it to balance the zestiness.
If you're curious about English Whisky, then you need to give this one a go, as it certainly is intriguing.
