Time for another dram!
A Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey made by Buffalo Trace Distillery
A bit about
The Eagle Rare 10 has 45% ABV, a natural dark-amber colour, and it is chill-filtered.
Throughout the years, it has won quite a number of awards, including Gold in 2025 and Silver in 2024 at the International Wine & Spirits Competition, Gold in 2024 at the North American Bourbon and Whiskey Competition and Gold in 2017 at the International Spirits Challenge.

Time to try it
Nose: Strong, sweet, with toffee, leather, some lingering cocoa, orange peel, and a bit of rye spice
Palate: Not as sweet as expected from the nose, with oaky dryness, orange peel and more of the cocoa notes
Finish: Medium, slightly spicy towards the end

Pros and cons
Eagle Rare 10 has a beautiful natural colour; unfortunately, my pictures don't do it much justice. The sweetness is quite nicely balanced with the layers of cocoa, orange and oak and with the dash of spiciness.
Overall, it's an easy-to-sip, unpretentious (as some might say) dram that's good both neat, with an ice cube or two, and in an old-fashioned cocktail. It does not disappoint.
Priced around £35 on most UK websites (fantastic price for a 10-year-old bourbon), I think it's a lovely whiskey to enjoy, no matter the season.
