Time for another dram!
A Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky

A bit about
With 45.6% ABV and a light amber colour, this Bulleit Frontier Whiskey was aged for 10 years in charred American white oak barrels.
The mash bill for it is made out of 68% corn, 28% rye and 4% malted barley.
When it comes to awards, so far, it has won gold in 2013, 2014 and 2015 at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition

Time to try it!
Nose: Sweet, with caramel and a splash of rye, fruitcake, chocolate, chocolate-covered plums, some spice and sourness
Palate: Spice, with a nice sweetness and even more rye on the palate
Finish: Medium-long with lingering spice, leather and sweetness

Pros and Cons
For me, the Bulleit 10 is quite nicely balanced overall (even though slightly harsh on the palate on the first sip) and good for an everyday bourbon.
I wouldn't recommend this as an entry-level whiskey, but considering the price, it's a pretty decent bourbon to have around the house, mainly for cocktails but alright for sipping too.
With a drop or two of water (or an ice cube in summer), some of the spice tones down, and more of the sweetness, red fruit and caramel become apparent.

In Conclusion
Priced at around £30-40 on most UK websites, I think the Bulleit Frontier 10 is a pretty decent whiskey to try. If you've never had bourbon whiskey before, this one probably won't be the one to reel you in, but it's an ok sip nonetheless.
