Time for another dram!
Ben Bracken Highland Single Malt
A Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky made for Lidl GB.
A bit about
Since I've recently reviewed the Glen Marnoch from Aldi, I thought it would be a good idea to review a whisky from their rival, Lidl.
All I know is that it's a Single Malt, it's a No-Age-Statement and that it has 40% ABV.
It is a product of Scotland, and, at least the one I have was produced and bottled by Clydesdale Scotch Whisky CO.
Time to try it
Nose: Caramel with a hint of citrus (quite lemony) with a bit of almond
Taste: Sweet, honey vanilla with a bit of pepperiness, but pleasant on the palate
Finish: Quite short with lemon peel
Pros and Cons
Priced at £ 18.49, I think it's good for the price. It lacks a good amount of depth but it's very pleasant on the nose, delicate on the palate and has a pretty decent finish.
It goes great on the rocks and it's been good in all the cocktails I've made so far with it, so can't fault it that much.
In Conclusion
Sure, there is always the argument of 'I'm sure you can find a better one for that price', which I keep hearing every time I mention an OK whisky at this sort of price range, but if you happen to be in the abovementioned shop and you want a very drinkable whisky, then why not give it a go?
I know there is a Speyside and an Islay version of Ben Bracken so I might give them a try soon. Have you sampled any of them?
As always, please drink responsibly.
