A bit about

Auchentoshan (pronounced 'Ock-un-tosh-un'), is a Glasgow Distillery that has been in business since 1823, producing triple-distilled whisky.

Matured in ex-bourbon and Sauvignon Blanc (white wine) Oak Casks, the Sauvignon Finish has 47% ABV and a pale gold colour.

Time to try it!

Nose: Sweet fruitiness, with fresh apple slice and orange

Palate: Pleasantly refreshing lemon and lime zest, a bit grassy, with a light pepperiness

Finish: Quite dry with a hint of sea salt.

Pros and Cons

Can't say I'm its biggest fan if served at room temperature, but once it's chilled, or at least poured over ice, it's a fantastic drink, very refreshing, and you can feel quite a lot of the sauvignon cask influence. In all honesty, the more you chill it, the more it resembles white wine rather than whisky.

Works great in a highball, but can't advise for any other cocktails as I've not dared try any other recipes yet.

In Conclusion

I'm a big fan of experimenting with a wide variety of casks, and this one for me has been quite lovely. If you're looking for a highly refreshing whisky, pop a bottle of this in the fridge; you won't regret it. If you want to slightly ruin your experience with it, then try it at room temperature.

If you're looking for anything sherry-heavy or peated, there are quite a few to choose from on this website, but this is certainly not one of them. It's light, great with a meal, and super easy to sip (again, as long as it's chilled, or at least with a few drops of the iciest water you can find).
