The Unicorn Gundam is a life-sized statue of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam, located in Odaiba, outside DiverCity Tokyo Plaza.
Gundam, a 'Military Science Fiction Media Franchise' which features giant robots called 'Gundam' started in 1979 and includes TV series, manga, anime, films, video games and Gunpla (plastic model kits).
This particular character, Unicorn Gundam, is from the 'Mobile Suit Gundam UC'. This full-size statue has been at its present location since 2017.
The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam is located outside Diver City Mall and 'transforms' 4 times during the daytime. The mini-shows, which take around 1 minute, start at 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, and 5 pm.
From 7 pm, the night performances take place every 30 minutes until 9.30 pm (7 pm, 7.30 pm, 8 pm, 8.30 pm, 9 pm, 9.30 pm).
No admission ticket is needed, but I would highly recommend being there a bit before the showtime start, to make sure you have a good spot to either see or take photos/film, as it can get quite busy, no matter the time of day.
Unicorn Gundam Statue is an 8-minute walk from Tokyo Teleport Station on the Rinkai Line or a 9-minute walk from Daiba Station on the Yurikamome (Local Toyosu) Line.
On the 7th floor of DiverCity, there is a Gundam Shop where fans can find a variety of merchandise/souvenirs.
I found various anime-related items in DiverCity, so if you're looking for a place to shop, I highly suggest you try this place.
The night-time shows are a bit more impressive since you can see the light show clearer, but during daytime, you can better appreciate all the details on this impressive 19.7-meter-tall robot.
Whether in Unicorn Mode or Destroy Mode (transformed), Unicorn Gundam is a fascinating attraction and easily a 'must-see' in Tokyo.
