Time for another dram!
A world-blended malt, product of Matsui Shuzo Distillery

A bit about
Produced by Matsui Shuzo, the Pure Malt Sherry Cask is part of the Kurayoshi Collection, along with the Pure Malt and also uses Scottish and Japanese whiskies
Kurayoshi Pure Malt Sherry Cask is non-chill-filtered, has 43% ABV and a beautiful amber colour.

Time to try it!
Nose: Delicate with chocolate, herbs and a bit of citrus
Palate: Dried plums and honey, and a hint a spice towards the end
Finish: Medium with pears, a bit of citrus and slight dryness

Pros and Cons
For me, this Kurayoshi feels like a very young whisky with an interesting assortment of delicate flavours (light body and no trace of peat)
So far, for me it has been nice straight or with an ice cube and pretty enjoyable in a highball.
If you pour a dram and leave it to breathe for a few minutes, you can feel the sherry influence a bit more on the nose.

In conclusion
I would probably recommend this one more for a whisky highball in summer rather than for sipping, but either way, it is certainly worth a try if you're curious about Japanese products.
I found my small 20cl bottle in Donki in Kyoto for around £15, and I'm not sure where you can find this mini version, but if you want to try the 70cl bottle, you can find it by tapping/clicking here.

As always, please drink responsibly.
