Time for another dram!
A world-blended malt from Matsui Shuzo Distillery

A bit about
Produced by Matsui Shuzo, the Pure Malt is part of the Kurayoshi Collection.
With Japanese and Scottish components, the Pure Malt has 43%ABV, and a beautiful golden colour.

Time to try it
Nose: Honey, Oak, dry sherry
Palate: Sherried malt, sultanas
Finish: Foral, lightly fruity, dry towards the end

Pros and Cons
The nose somewhat reminds me of the Hatozaki (mainly in style), but is much more generous and complex on the palate.
For me, it has a delicate balance between the sherry dryness on the nose, the sweetness on the palate and the slightly floral finish. It's quite different from most Japanese whiskies I've tried so far, and might not be everyone's favourite dram, but it certainly is interesting.
I much prefer this one over ice, but don't get me wrong, it's enjoyable neat as well.

In Conclusion
If you're curious about blends and world whiskies, then you might want to sample this if given a chance. It's an interesting blend.
I bought my tiny 20cl in a shop in Kyoto for the equivalent of something around £15, as far as I can remember.
Priced at around £ 80-something on most UK websites, if you want to give this whisky a try, you can find the 70cl bottle here.

As always, please drink responsibly.
