Time for another dram!
A Single Barrel Polish Whisky

A bit about
Located in the western part of Poland (Paproć 111, 64-300 Paproć, Poland), Bartex Bartol has been in business since 1990, both producing and importing spirits/drinks such as whisky, vodka, gin, cognac and wines.
The Paprocky Single Barrel is a Single Malt Whisky with 40% ABV. It was aged in American Virgin Oak barrels. The one I've sampled is bottle no 84 from barrel no 2813.
When it comes to awards, The Paprocky Single Barrel has won quite a few so far, such as: Gold at the Warsaw Spirit Competition in 2024, Silver at the International Whisky Competition in 2024 in Las Vegas, Silver at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2024 in London and Bronze at the Asian Spirits Competition in 2025 in Singapore.

Time to try it!
Nose: Quite sweet with toffee, boiled sweets and traces of dried fruit
Palate: Medium-bodied with the sweetness from the nose continuing and coating the palate nicely, with a few layers of dried forest fruit
Finish: Long, with the fruitiness lingering for quite some time.

Pros and Cons
I'm always happy to see more and more countries around the world experimenting with making whisky, and this makes no exception. Would have loved to see this one at cask strength, but can't complain too much; it's enjoyable as it is.
It does certainly benefit from being left to breathe in the glass for a good few minutes before enjoying. On the first sip, as I opened the bottle, it seemed a bit harsh, but since then, and especially if I leave it be for a while, it has changed quite a bit.
So far, I've had it neat, with a few drops of water, and I've made a whisky sour and a highball with it. The Whisky Sour turned out phenomenal, but, perhaps unsurprisingly, I still prefer it neat.
I'm not entirely sure where you can find this one in the UK; I was fortunate enough to receive it as a gift from a friend who just came back from Poland and found this interesting bottle in the Duty-free shop. Price-wise, as I didn't want to ask my friend directly, I've seen it mentioned in a few other places that it might be somewhere around €40-50.

As always, please drink responsibly.
