Time for another Dram!
Oban Distillery Exclusive - Batch No 3
A batch selected by the Oban Distillery Team. An exclusive release, this is one of 8520 bottles.
A bit about
Produced by Oban Distillery, this interesting whisky is a West Highland Single Malt matured in ex-bourbon and rejuvenated casks with 48 % ABV.
After touring the Distillery, I don't think I could have left there without this one (and a few others to be honest).
I've previously tried the 12-Year-Old Special Release as well as the Distillers Edition, and I've enjoyed them both.
Time to try it
Nose: Pleasantly lemony, reminding me of honey with a slight hint of spice
Taste: Quite peppery and sweet to start with and bitter towards the end.
Finish: Way shorter than expected with oak and hints of citrus fruit.
Pros and Cons
So far, all of the whiskies I've tried from Oban Distillery have been very interesting, but as interesting as this particular one might be as well, I'm not sure I can justify the price this time. If the budget allows and you are curious, then by all means, please try it, it honestly has an interesting mix of flavours to offer, but if you're used to blended whisky and want to dive more into the world of Single Malts, I don't think I'd suggest this one as the first option for a novice.
In Conclusion
Priced at around £90 it's an interesting dram to try, but I would not recommend this one as your first whisky from Oban Distillery.
As always, please drink responsibly.
