Time to try it!

Nose: Stewed pears, fruit compote, burnt toffee pudding,

Palate: Pleasant on the palate, quite velvety, but with a slight burn towards the end, it's sweet, with fresh fruit to begin with - predominantly apples, apricots and pears, but quite rough towards the end.

Finish: Medium with lime peel and grassy notes

Pros and Cons

For me, the nose is way more inviting than the taste, way sweeter and more complex. It's still a pleasant dram, don't get me wrong. I just expected more on the palate, given that the nose is just so inviting, especially when you first open the bottle.

It's lovely neat or with a drop or two of water. I can imagine this working wonders in a highball in the middle of a hot summer (whether in Japan or not).

In Conclusion

Priced at around £75 on most UK websites, it's a tasty dram to enjoy, especially if you're curious about Japanese whiskies apart from the ones produced by Yamazaki or Hatozaki.

It's not as citrusy as the Fuji Blended, but just as well-rounded.
