Time for another dram!
A Blended Japanese Whisky from Fuji Gotemba Distillery

A bit about
After a wonderful Distillery visit to Kirin Fuji Gotemba, close to Mount Fuji, I got a pack of 3 different minis, one of which is the Single Blended.
Launched in 20123, Fuji Single Blended Japanese Whisky is a blend of malt and grain whiskies, produced by Fuji Gotemba Distillery. Matured in American White Oak barrels, it has 43% ABV, a light-gold colour, and I'm presuming it to be non-chill-filtered.
When it comes to awards, it won Gold in 2024 at both the World Whisky Awards and the International Spirits Challenge (also in 2023 and 2025).

Time to try it!
Nose: Fruity, with fresh peach, coconut, malted milk biscuits and apricot jam
Palate: Very slightly oily mouthfeel, with more fruity notes - more peach, more coconut, some apple and lime peel
Finish: Medium-long, lightly sweet, with a lingering citrus peel dryness, some oak and delicate floral and grassy tones.

Pros and Cons
It's a very lovely dram to sip, whether neat or with a drop of water. It's pretty well-rounded, with quite a few complex fruity layers to offer.
The more I left it in the glass, the more biscuity and burnt sugar notes came out to play. The grain component also becomes more and more obvious as you leave the whisky to breathe for a while. I've not tried any cocktails with it yet, but I can see this one being pretty versatile.

In Conclusion
Priced at around £75 on most UK websites, it's a pleasant and super easy sipper with quite a rich body, a delicate nose and a lingering sweet and citrusy finish.
