The Clydeside Distillery Fortnight - Whisky Review

Time for another dram!

Fortnight is a Lowland Single Malt Whisky, Clydeside Distillery's first Peated Whisky

A bit about

Fortnight was crafted with Scottish barley, water from Loch Katrine and Highland peat, then matured for over 6 years in oak casks.

Named after the 2-week window every year when peated spirit is made at Clydeside Distillery, Fortnight is bottled at 46% ABV, is non-chill-filtered and has a natural colour.

This Lowland Peated whisky was launched in October 2025.

As a small disclaimer, I had the opportunity to be at Clydeside for the launch of their first peated whisky.

Time to try it

Nose: Plums, apricots and gentle floral and peat notes

Palate: Citrusy (lemony), very delicately sweet and peaty with a very small amount of spice towards the end, overall very nicely balanced

Finish: Long, with a slight dryness, with peat, lemon and lime zest

Pros and Cons

I'm still quite picky when it comes to peated whisky, and this one has made it to my list of pleasantly peated whiskies, quite entry-level, ideal to recommend to anyone who has not had much or any experience with peated whiskies or is just now daring to enter this beautiful world.

I prefer this one neat, but I cannot wait to experiment with a few cocktails with Fortnight.

At the launch event, I had the opportunity to try three cocktails specifically designed with this whisky in mind, and they certainly did not disappoint (more about this coming soon).

In Conclusion

I'm more than pleasantly surprised by what Clydeside Distillery have come up with.

It's a very nicely peated dram with delicate citrus and enough sweetness to balance all of it. It's superbly easy to drink.

For me, Fortnight is a very tasty dram. If you get a chance, then by all means, please do try it; I'm sure you'll be more than delighted.
