A Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky three cask matured - bourbon barrels, sherry casks and virgin oak casks.
A bit about
Benriach distillery dates from 1898. It worked for two years, then stayed closed until 1965 when it started distilling again. Since then it has changed ownership quite a few times, and after previously being used only in blends, the 10-Year-Old Single Malt was first released in 1994.
According to their website, the name comes from the distillery's location - 'Ben' meaning hill and 'Riach' being the name of the farm which previously occupied the space.
Benriach The Original 10 is part of Benriach's Core Range which includes both peated and unpeated whiskies with different maturation times varying between 10 and 30 years.
It won Silver in 2021 at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Time to try it
Benriach 10 has a beautiful light gold, natural colour and 43% ABV.
Nose: Slight vanilla and honey, reminding me of salted caramel
Taste: A lot of fruit and raisins, quite sweet, but not over the top, overall highly palatable
Finish: Medium with a hint of spice towards the end.
A drop of cold water or a small ice cube opens up more of the sweet honey notes and delicate fruitiness.
Pros and cons
Priced at around £40 to £45 on most UK websites, I think it's a good whisky to try.
Bourbon barrels, sherry casks and virgin oak casks were used in the making of this whisky which has a lot of subtle flavours combining beautifully to form a light and delicious dram.
The only downside I can think of for this particular whisky is that if you're a fan of anything highly peated then this is certainly not the one for you.

In conclusion
For me, it's quite an interesting whisky with a lot of flavours to offer, but nothing too overpowering, making it a very good introductory whisky for anyone new to this magnificent world.
If you have a chance to try it I would encourage you to give this one a go as it is certainly easy to drink and quite good value for money.'
