Time for another drink!
A deliciously sweet Junmai Genshu Sake from Sawanotsuru Brewery, Kobe.

A bit about
Made by Sawanotsuru Brewery, one of Kobe's many fascinating sake makers, with a history dating back to 1717, Tamayoi has 17.5 % ABV and it is clear, with a slight golden hue.
SMV -10, Rice Polish 65%, Acidity 2.7, Amino acid 2.2.
So far from Sawanotsuru I have tried the Totonoi, Shushu Light, Deluxe Sake and the Junmai Tarusake, and they have all been delicious.

Time to try it
Delicately sweet and floral on the nose, with a lovely rice aroma, it has a lightly sweet taste, with mellow rice goodness, and it is overall very pleasant on the palate.
You can easily go through most of the bottle without even noticing; it is fantastically easy to drink.
I've tried the Tamayoi cold, at room temperature and lukewarm, and I've been quite happy with it no matter its temperature.

Pros and Cons
For me, the Tamayoi is absolutely delightful, probably one of my favourite sakes from Sawanotsuru. The sweetness and delicate aromas are beautifully balanced with the high alcohol percentage, which also makes it great for sake-based cocktails.
The brand's suggestion for this is that you can add this sake to lemon tea, mix it with ice and lemonade or ice and orange juice.
I can't think of any type of food that this sake won't pair well with (perhaps something severely overpowering).

In conclusion
Whether enjoyed as it is, or part of a cocktail, the Tamayoi is a beautiful Junmai Genshu Sake to try.
I was lucky enough to visit the Sawanotsuru Sake Brewery Museum and Gift Shop, where I was able to buy this beautiful 180ml bottle for around 400 Yen. So far, I have not been able to find it in the UK, so if you do, please let me know in the comments below.
If you want to discover any other type of sake, you can give these ones a try.

As always, please drink responsibly.
