Time for another drink!
A Tawny Port aged for 10 years, produced by Compania Velha.

A bit about
Port is probably one of the most famous styles of fortified wine. For it to be Port and not just fortified wine, it needs to be produced in the Douro Valley in Portugal. A neutral grape spirit (sometimes referred to as Grape Brandy) is added to the wine to stop the fermentation. It makes the wine sweeter and increases the ABV, while also preserving it for longer.
The Royal Oporto 10 is a Tawny Port. It is a fortified wine produced in the Douro Valley of Portugal, aged for 10 years in oak casks, and it has 20% ABV, medium accidity and a rich tawny colour.

Time to try it!
Ripe dark forest fruit, toasted oak, vanilla and a bit of spice on the nose, mellow, delightfully sweet on the palate, with some walnuts and more ripe fruit and a long, delicate finish.
Priced around £ 30 on most UK websites for this 375 ml bottle, it's a lovely port to enjoy either with, after, or as dessert. It has a beautiful sweetness and delicate layers of ripe and dried fruit (prunes, raisins, cherries) and nuts, enveloped in a subtle layer of oakiness. It's an absolute treat!

As always, please drink responsibly.
