A Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

A bit about
Loch Lomond 12 is non-chill-filtered and has 46% ABV. It was made using both straight-neck and swan-neck stills, and aged in American oak casks ( bourbon, refill and re-charred)
So far, the Loch Lomond 12 has won quite a number of awards :
Platinum in 2020 and Double Gold (Single Malt Scotch - to 12 Yrs) in 2022 at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Gold (Highlands & Islands Premium) in 2020 at The Scotch Whisky Masters (The Spirits Business), Silver in 2019 and 2022 and Gold in 2020 (Distillers' Single Malts 12 years and under) at the International Spirits Challenge, just to name a few.

Time to try it!
Nose: Pleasant, delicate, with honey, green apple, vanilla and a bit of lemon.
Palate: Medium body, slightly harsh on the palate, with more lemon and fresh orchard fruit
Finish: Long, a bit dry/tangy, with a hint of spice and pleasant smoke towards the end

Pros and Cons
I prefered this one with a few drops of water rather than neat, as on its own it was a bit too harsh on the palate for me.
I can't honestly say it's in my top 10 favorite whiskies, but I did find this combination of citrus and smoke quite intreaguing.
After hearing some very nice things about it and seeing how many awards it has won so far, I honestly expected a more complex whisky, or at least with some elements which would make it stand out a bit more, but, that's just me. As we know, when it comes to these magnificent drinks, it's a matter of personal taste and preferance, so I'm sure that as much as this one hasn't been standing out to me as much, it might be someone's favorite whisky.

In Conclusion
Priced at around £42 on most UK websites, I think the Loch Lomond 12 is an interesting dram to sample, especially if you prefer your whisky somewhat fruity and only slightly peated.
