Time for another dram!
A mellow, lightly peated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

A bit about
Product of Laphroaig, the Oak Select is made from a marriage of 5 different casks of different ages - ex-bourbon, new American Oak, quarter casks, PX-casks and European Oloroso casks.
It has 40% ABV, a natural gold colour, and it has won gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2020 and 2022.

Time to try it!
Nose: Peat, grain (barley) with lemon and lime zest
Palate: Delicately sweet and peaty with more lemon than on the nose, some oak and a bit of spice towards the end
Finish: Medium, with a bit of spice and almond among the peat and some dryness towards the very end

Pros and Cons
The description on the bottle - 'our most laid-back expression' is pretty spot on. With a bit of peat, a bit of sweetness and a bit of dry citrus aromas, it's a very easy-going whisky.
Priced around £26- £40 on most UK websites, it's a good whisky to sample if you're new to peated whisky, especially to Laphroaig, or if you're not a massive fan of peated whiskies in general.

In Conclusion
For me, it's a lovely dram, precisely because I'm not a massive fan of highly peated/medicinal peat whiskies. It's not too complex, more of an easy-drinker than anything.
If you're an avid fan of the Laphroaig and Islay peat in general, this one might be a slight let-down for you, as all the iodine and medicinal peat notes are very much toned down.
