A Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured first in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and finished in ex-rum casks.
A bit about
Jura Rum Cask Finish is produced on the Isle of Jura, by the Isle of Jura Distillery Co.
This no-age-statement whisky has 40% ABV and a rich golden amber colour.
Jura Rum Cask Finish
Time to try it
Nose: Brown sugar, quite sweet, ripe fruit (orange)
Taste: On the sweet side to begin with, warming, with a bit of dryness towards the end, a bit of oak and zesty orange peel
Finish: Medium, gently dry with oak and bitter almonds
It's super easy to drink, I'm just not a big fan of the aftertaste, as it's a bit too almondy for me.
The rum cask has some influence on it, but nowhere near what I hoped for.
In a strange way, it seems like the dessert version of the Jura Bourbon Cask.
Pros and Cons
If you prefer sipping your whiskies, especially neat, this might not necessarily be for you.
It's enjoyable neat or with a couple of drops of cold water, but it has been absolutely delicious in cocktails, especially in a highball (whisky, ice and soda) with a few orange slices.
It goes well with most mixers, especially ginger ale and ginger beer and it works wonders in fruitier cocktails.

In Conclusion
Overall, I found it to be an enjoyable whisky, promising, but somewhat lacking in depth.
Priced at around £35-40 on most UK websites, I think it's a good whisky to try, especially if you love whisky cocktails.
