Time for another dram!
A beautifully peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky

A bit about
Launched in 2002, the Caol Ila 12 has won a few awards at international competitions, such as: Gold in 2014 in the 'Distillers' Single Malts 12 years and under' category at the International Spirits Challenge, Gold in 2014 in the 'Islay up to 12 years old' category at the The Scotch Whisky Masters (The Spirits Business) and 1st Place in 2015 in the
'Best Single Malt Scotch 12 Years' category at the International Whisky Competition.
It has been chill-filtered, colouring has been added, and it has 43% ABV.

Time to try it
Nose: Peaty and sweet on the nose
Palate: Peaty (peatier than the smell suggests), with toffee, citrus and pear on the palate
Finish: Long but delicate finish with a bit of spice towards the end.

Pros and Cons
With a soft peat overall, the Caol Ila 12 is quite enjoyable, especially for those of us who aren't the biggest fans of heavily peated drams.
It's delicious neat and enjoyable with a few drops of cold water or an ice cube added.
I haven't had a chance to use this one in any cocktails or recipes yet, will update this once it happens.
If you prefer your drams as peated as possible, you might think this one is lacking a few layers of peat smoke, but if you're still exploring, trying to find a not-too-peated whisky, this might be what you're looking for.

In Conclusion
With a medium body, quite delicate aromas and a pleasant peat (overall, nothing too overpowering), I think the Caol Ila 12 is a nice whisky to try.
It's priced around £50 on most UK websites.

As always, please drink responsibly.
