My Travel Checklist

Updated: Dec 3, 2023

I absolutely love planning trips.

I find travelling to be super exciting and just the thought of seeing new amazing places, meeting new interesting people, trying different types of food, and generally immersing myself in new cultures makes me want to book a trip now.

But, as much as I love all the madness of searching for all the attractions, scheduling the activities and booking all the flights and accommodations, I have to admit that sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming.

That's why, to make my life a bit easier, I have a travel checklist which helps me organize everything more efficiently.

Some of them are highly obvious, and when you read the list you'll probably say 'Well, obviously', but I like crossing them off the list, or at least reading through the list once or twice, for some peace of mind.

Whether it's a two-day city break or four weeks on the other side of the world, the following checklist has been very useful in planning any trip.

travel checklist

Travel Essentials

  1. Passport

  2. Boarding Pass Printed and/or Airline App

  3. Hotel/Airbnb Bookings

  4. Transport to and from the airport

  5. Cash (not just cards or apps on your phone, to be on the safe side)

  6. Attractions/Activities Bookings

  7. Travel Insurance

  8. Visas or other required documents (if required)

  9. Vaccinations (if required - make sure to check entry requirements in advance)

  10. Copies of the most important documents (Visa, Passport and Travel Insurance), either physical copies or digital ones, ideally saved on your email/drive/somewhere accessible in case your phone gets lost/damaged.

Travel Bag

  1. Medication (Prescriptions, bandaids/plasters, over-the-counter pain relief)

  2. Electronics, Chargers and Adapter Plugs - Phone/Tablet/Laptop/Headphones

  3. Glasses/ Contact lenses/ Sunglasses

  4. Reusable Water Bottle

  5. Portable Charger (and cables)

  6. Toiletries (sunscreen, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and toothbrush, deodorant, perfume/cologne, make-up, hair products)

  7. Clothes (Enough for the duration of the trip: pyjamas, day-to-day clothes appropriate for the weather, socks, underwear, shoes, hat)

  8. Book/ ebook/ audiobook

  9. Snacks

  10. Wet Wipes and Tissues

  11. Notebook and Pen

  12. Hand Sanitiser

  13. Umbrella, Waterproof Poncho or Fold Away Raincoat

Useful Apps

  1. Maps (Google Maps, Naver, Jorudan)

  2. Currency Converter

  3. Airline

  4. Accommodation/Hotel

  5. Transport/Bus/Train

  6. Activities and Attractions (such as Klook)

  7. Translation

As a little bonus, on top of being ready for the upcoming trip, checking everything off the list is highly satisfying and makes you feel a bit more reassured that you won't forget anything vital or desired.

I hope life is treating you well
