The Elan Valley Trail is a nearly four-hour-long circular walk (8 miles/13 km) around the Elan Valley Reservoirs.

Opening times and admission:
The Elan Valley Visitor Centre is open from 9 am to 5 pm from April to October and from 10 am to 4 pm from November to March (Closed on the 25th of December)

How to get there:
Address: Elan Valley, Rhayader LD6 5HP
The nearest train station is Llandrindod. From there, you can take bus X47 or B57 (runs only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays), or a taxi
If you're driving there, a coach and car park is available.
At the Visitor Centre, you will find an information desk, a cafe, a small exhibition area, a picnic area and bike hire.
Most of the trail is pretty easily accessible, but please make sure to wear appropriate/comfortable shoes. I would recommend having a map with you, either a paper or a downloaded digital version, as the mobile signal is pretty much non-existent throughout the trail.
Also, as a little reminder, please make sure to have water and perhaps a few snacks with you.
There are quite a few benches beautifully placed throughout the walk, and a few fascinating sculptures to admire along the way.
The walk should take around 3-4 hours, but it took us closer to 5 as I stopped to take a million photos, every chance I got, so if you're like me, you might want to take this into account when planning for the day.
