Time for another dram!
A light and floral Single Malt Scotch Whisky, great for sipping.
Located on the Isle of Mull, Tobermory Distillery dates back to 1798, date which you can see on the bottle. It is one of the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland but it hasn't produced whisky continuously since then, having gone through a number of closings and re-openings. In Gaelic, Tobermory means 'Mary's Well' - referring to a nearby well dating from medieval times.
Tobermory 12 has won a few gold and silver awards at International Spirit Challenges.
Tobermory 12 is a Single Malt Scotch Whisky. It's Non-Chill-Filtered, it has 46.3% ABV and a beautiful gold natural colour. It is made with unpeated barley and aged in ex-bourbon casks.
On the Nose - it's slightly sweet and floral with a bit of vanilla.
Taste-wise it is smooth, and, as with the smell, on the sweet side. It has a dash of spiciness mixed with a lot of fruitiness.
The finish is medium and quite warm with a hint of salt.
It's super easy to sip and has a lot of flavour. It's great neat, it's lovely with an ice cube or a drop of cold water and it works miracles in a highball.
The downside is that unless you order online you might not be able to find it that easily.
If you prefer peated whisky, then please try Ledaig 10, made by the same distillery, you won't regret it.
Priced at around £45 on most UK websites, it's a nice dram to have around the house. It's smooth and easy to drink whether neat or mixed.
As a side note, I was lucky enough to take part in a Distillery Tour as I was visiting Oban and The Isle of Mull. Most of the pictures here are of a freshly purchased bottle from the distillery, in the Isle of Mull environment.
